Sustainability Projects
As the organization grows, Bethesda International is constantly developing and running self-sustaining projects to provide educational tools and monetary support.
Poultry Project
We currently have 30 birds and 1 turkey that are raised on the farm under free-range and in-door systems. This project benefits the organization by using the eggs to feed the children and selling birds for organization needs.
Piggery Project
Due to drought and insufficient stalls, 50 pigs were sold leaving only 3. We are, however, in the process of building new stalls to house the pigs and to allow for expansion of this project.
Future Projects
Due to lack of funding we have put the following two projects on hold. We hope to resume both projects when we attain funding and resources.
-
Women and vocational projects
Women are being taught how to create, manage, and run small scale businesses for tailoring and arts and crafts. These women are also taught business skills such as business management and computer technologies, as well as social and life skills such as assertiveness, communication and mobilization. These women have come to realize their rights and responsibilities. -
Solar oven project
The Rotary Club has donated a solar oven to our organization as a means of income generation. It is our hope that with more adequate funding, we can use this tool to further expand our organization and its contribution to the children of Uganda.
